Alexander (Ship) log book, 1802-1804.

Log book kept by John Brown, captain of the Ship Alexander, as he traveled from Boston to Canton, China (now Guangzhou) and back. The voyage took 22 months and covered nearly 23,600 miles. Entries contain the distance covered, wind directions, the course direction, and a summary of the day's activity. The captain would note if anyone on board was sick, any other ships they encountered, and other pertinent information.
